Exclusive: Seagate Wireless Plus Experience Event for HWZ Members

Sharing is Caring with Seagate

An unusual sight on our sunny island, brightly-colored Kombi vans awaited our members on a fine Saturday morning.

On a sunny Saturday morning of 23rd March, selected members from our forums gathered at the car park of Newton Food Centre for a special Seagate event where they were given exclusive and unrestricted access to one of Seagate’s latest product - the Wireless Plus. As detailed in our review, the Seagate Wireless Plus is a mobile wireless media streamer. While it may look like your regular 2.5-inch portable hard drive, it is in fact Wi-Fi capable and can stream content to surrounding devices with Wi-Fi capability.

By streaming content from the Wireless Plus to their tablets and smartphones as they made their way from Newton Food Centre to the final event venue, members had a first-hand experience of what it's like to use the drive.

After gathering at Newton Food Centre, members were then driven off to the event location in colorful Kombi vans. It was a long ride to the event location, so along the way, Seagate streamed media content from the Wireless Plus drive in their respective vans, allowing members to enjoy movies and music. Needless to say, this made the long journey more enjoyable.

It may look like an ordinary portable hard drive, but the Seagate Wireless Plus has added Wi-Fi capability, allowing it to share content with up to eight Wi-Fi capable devices simultaneously.

Vermount, Senior Product Marketing Manager for Asia Pacific and Japan, showed members key features of the Wireless Plus drive and also gave an exclusive preview of the yet-to-be-launched Central drive.

The event was held at the quaint surroundings of The Coastal Settlements. There, Vermount Hoh, Seagate’s Senior Product Marketing Manager for Asia Pacific and Japan, spoke at length about the key features, benefits and usage scenarios of the Wireless Plus drive, and also showed members how easy it was to setup and use. He also shared his personal experience in using the Wireless Plus drive, remarking that it helped keep his wife and kids occupied on a recent self-drive holiday in Malaysia.

Finally, Vermount also gave our members an exclusive preview of product that has yet to be introduced in Singapore - the Seagate Central. Without revealing too much, the Central aims to be the user’s storage and media hub at the heart of one's home. We will be reviewing this product as soon as it is launched so check back then.

Following the presentation, members took part in a photo hunt game where they had to look for specific items to photograph based on clues provided. The photos were then uploaded to a Wireless Plus drive, showcasing the device’s versatility for expanding the storage for devices with no expandable memory card slots.

After the photo hunt game and a scrumptious lunch, our members were then presented with a Wireless Plus drive each. Winners of the photo hunt game were also awarded with the additional prize of a Backup Plus drive. All in all, it was an enlightening and fun-filled morning for our members.
