Epson struts their latest gear in conjunction with Singapore's F1 night race

Fueled by Epson? Sort of...

Epson yesterday held an event at the Mandarin Oriental, right next to the track of this weekend’s night race to talk about how their technology helps to drive the Mercedes AMG Petronas team, and also to show off some of their latest products. Here are some images from the event.

Epson Runsense GPS Sports Watches and Pulsense Fitness Watch and Band

A set of lightweight, water-resistant fitness trackers, the Runsense sports monitors look fairly sporty and feature GPS trackers to help measure distance and pace. There’s even a built-in Smart Stride Sensor that learns your running technique and helps to calibrate your stride as you go.

The Runsense GPS Sports Watches look pretty sporty.

The Pulsense Fitness trackers look slim and stylish – and much like the other fitness trackers on the market, these too offer heart rate tracking, sleep quality assessment, and exercise intensity tracking. It’s meant to be paired with the Pulsense View mobile app or website.

Pulsense Fitness Watch and Band are Epson's other entry into fitness wearables.

Epson Moverio BT-200

The latest version of the Moverio is quite a bit thinner and less clunky than the previous versions, and seems quite a bit like Google Glass to be honest. It delivers an augmented reality experience and is able to deliver 3D video, as well as project a qHD virtual screen. What's the experience like? We've reviewed the previous edition in depth.

The new Movario glasses are a lot slimmer than the previous generation.

Visitors were given a chance to experience augmented reality.

Epson L850 ultra-low cost in tank system printer

This is a six-color ink tank printer that does borderless prints with a resolution of 5,760dpi. It features the ability to print direct to CD/DVD surface, has PictBridge support and a direct USB 2.0 port. You can read more about the Epson L850 in our article.

An Epson L850 was situated right next to the photo wall so visitors could get prints of themselves.

Epson SureColor SC-F2000 Garment printer

Taking up a fairly large area in the room was the SC-F2000 Garment printer, where staff were demonstrating how designs could be easily printed on T-shirts. Thanks to the use of the PrecisionCore TFP printhead, the SC-F2000 can print a t-shirt in just 27 seconds!

The SureColor SC-F2000 Garment printer has a fairly large footprint.

Visitors were taken through how the printer works.

Epson EB-Z series projectors

Remember what Panasonic did at Broadcast Asia this year? Well, Epson showed that they can do just the same, using seven of their EB-Z series 3LCD projectors to demonstrate a projection mapping display on a Formula One race car.

Epson EB-1430Wi ultra-short throw projector

Finally, this was probably the largest draw of the day, with a full racing simulator hooked up to the EB-1430Wi ultra-short throw projector to demonstrate how the projector could handle the response rate required of the fast paced game.

An Epson short-throw projector was used on a blank wall to form a massive screen for the racing simulator.

Combined with the motion simulator, the Epson short-throw projector gave visitors a life-like experience of racing in an F1 car.
