LG - Freedom is Mobility?

Going for style and glitz was LG's launch held at Chjimes Hall last Friday and it was obvious LG spared no effort to dazzle the audience with magic tricks and pretty models. Normally, when you go all out in style like this, you would expect a slew of products, but we found ourselves just faced with one - the LG X110 Netbook.

The launch event was definitely a glitzy affair if the welcome sign was any indication (it was).

Appearing from an empty box was host Jean Danker. It's just like magic!

Some eye candy to look at before we look at the real eye candy that this pretty model is holding.

LG's tagline for the netbook: Freedom of Mobility is certainly fitting as unlike other netbooks where you have to use a separate dongle for 3G access, the X110 comes with 3.75G already built-in. That's not all there is for this 10-inch netbook however. The X110 comes with almost everything you'll need, and doesn't scale down on hardware in order to meet a certain price point. That's right - at $799, you'll get the basic Intel Atom 1.6GHz processor, Windows XP Home, LED Display, 1GB RAM and 160GB HDD. Oh, and did we mention that the X110 has a full-sized keyboard and weighs only 1.19kg with a 6-cell battery? Lastly, the X110 model with 3.75G built in will set you back by $1099, but that means there's no need to mess around with USB 3G modems...

As you can see, the LG Netbook X110 has a full sized 82-key keyboard. Let's just say it was really nice to type with and on par with the HP Mini 1000.

The SIM card slot is located behind the battery - which means you'll have to power down the unit before switching or inserting SIM cards.
