Computex Taipei 2007 - Part 6

AcBel and Albatron Booths

AcBel's Booth

A major OEM for power supplies (PSUs), AcBel also has its own retail arm and we saw evidence of these products at its booth.

It may be debatable whether requiring drivers for a PSU is for the better or worse but AcBel seems to think that it's a good thing for its Digital Power monitoring tool, which is sold as a set together with 500 and 600W PSU variants.

Some of the information displayed by the Digital Power device. This is not exactly a new product per se but AcBel still seems to be pushing it strongly, with a live demonstration at the booth.

This R8 Power 800 (PC7030) is rated at 88% efficiency and has also attained the 80 Plus program certification that confirms its power efficiency. It is both SLI and CrossFire ready, with four separate +12V rails.

Albatron's Booth

Of course Albatron has to have an Intel X38 board on display. This Albatron PXX38 seems to have a relatively small passive cooler compared to other brands.

The Albatron KI690-S1 uses AMD's 690G chipset but with its S1 socket, it supports Sempron mobile CPUs. This Mini-ITX board has integrated Radeon X1250 graphics with HDMI interface and up to four SATA3.0 interfaces. Additionally, it uses DDR2-667 or 533 SODIMM modules. We bet you can see where Albatron is heading with such a design.

Here's a demo unit which uses the Mini-ITX KI690-S1 board inside, together with a low 60W power adaptor and a 2.5-inch notebook hard drive from Toshiba.

Another AMD 690G Mini-ITX board from Albatron is this KJ690-AM2, which is a Socket AM2 version of the KI690-S1. Meaning you'll get integrated Radeon X1250 graphics and SODIMM memory slots.

This low to mid-range graphics card is based on NVIDIA's GeForce 8500 GT and hence comes with PureVideo HD support, easing the burden of video decoding from the CPU. Notably there seems to be Component output on it apart from the lone DVI output.
