Sparking off the usual excitement for the latest in gadgets and other high-tech toys, Comex 2008 has started at Suntec City Convention Center today. Our team was on the scene to capture the best deals and moments and we are glad to report that there are two sprawling floors of booths with undoubtedly great buys among them.

With the school holidays starting next week, expect to find whole families surging through the exhibition area this weekend, with Comex 2008 happening from 12 noon to 9pm daily till Sunday. Apple's Booth

 As usual, Apple had its booth stocked with its usual offerings of iMacs, Macbook Pros, Macbooks and iPods. And if you are wondering, the answer is no, there are no iPhones.

 Almost the entire Apple line, save for the Mac Pro, are being heavily promoted at Comex 2008.

 The Macbook is available in 2.1GHz and 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo flavors, and buyers can expect to get a number of freebies and an option to upgrade to 4GB of RAM at a special price of S$88. Prices start from S$1,688.

 The Macbook Pro comes in 2.4GHz and 2.5GHz models and buyers are given free keyboard covers and free upgrades to 4GB of RAM. Prices start from S$3,088.

 This is the smaller 20-inch iMac, which comes in 2.4GHz and 2.66GHz variants. There is a larger 24-inch 2.8GHz model. All iMacs come with at least 1GB of RAM and have discrete ATI Radeon cards as standard. Prices start from S$1,888.

 No, this is not the iPhone. This is the iPod Touch. All purchase of iPods, except the Shuffle will get you a free silicon skin, screen protector, FM transmitter and USB travel adapter. Prices for the Touch start from S$498 for the 8GB model.

 This is the iPod Nano. It comes in 4GB and 8GB flavors and a host of colors. The 4GB model costs S$238, whereas the 8GB one costs S$318.

 The iconic iPod Classic is available with either 80GB or 160GB of storage, with the 80GB one costing S$348 and the 160GB one, S$548.

 At hand were also accessories for your Mac gadgets such as skins, earphones, notebooks sleeves and bags.
