AMD Fusion Begins
AMD launched its new family of Fusion Accelerated Processing Units (APUs) which is a highly integrated processor that incorporates a multi-core processor, a powerful DirectX11-capable discrete-level graphics and parallel processing engine, a dedicated high-definition video acceleration block, and a high-speed bus that speeds data across the differing types of processor cores within the design.
There will be two APU variations: E-Series and C-Series. These APUs feature the new x86 CPU core codenamed "Bobcat" and was designed from the ground up to deliver stellar mobile performance.
E-series APUs (for mainstream notebooks, All-in-Ones, and small form factor desktops)
- E-350, 18W TDP, 2 core, 1.6GHz
- E-240, 18W TDP, 1 core, 1.5GHz
C-series APUs (for HD netbooks and other emerging form factors)
- C-50, 9W TDP, 2 core, 1.0GHz
- C-30, 9W TDP, 1 core, 1.2GHz
Below, we have a showcase of notebooks and netbooks that use one of these new AMD Fusion APUs. Expect to see some of these models hitting the market soon.
