With a thickness no more than 9mm, Pioneer's prototype Project Kuro plasma TV is an example of the company's push to create the best TV there could possibly be – one with deep and pure blacks the way it's meant to be viewed.

On the heels of its 47-inch LG75 LED Backlit LCD HDTV, LG Electronics also unveiled its LG71 Wireless LCD HDTV in 47-and 52-inch models. Based on 802.11n, the TV receives high-definition signals from a separate wireless receiver with a 50-foot radius. The LG71 comes with four HDMI, 20,000:1 contrast ratio and features LG's SimpLink (one-remote connectivity).

LG Electronics also showcased its Super Blu Player (BH200) that supports both Blu-ray and HD DVD playback. At CES 2008, LG showed the same player playing a Blu-ray and HD DVD movie on two separate units simultaneously. Supporting BD-Java and HD DVD interactivity, the BH200 uses the Qdeo advanced video processor, features LG's SimpLink connectivity and 7.1-channel surround sound.

Perhaps even more interesting are LG's two new internal and an external dual-format "Super Multi Blue" Blu-ray and HD DVD compatible drive. Featuring LightScribe, the optical PC-drives let consumers a variety of options when it comes to playing and recording next-generation discs. The GGW-H20LI features Blu-ray disc read and write at 6x (16 minutes for a single-layer BD-R) and 3x HD DVD playback. However, the GGC-H20LI has only Blu-ray and HD DVD playback compatibility. The GGW-E10L (pictured) is a unique white-and-black chassis external "Super Multi Blue" drive that reads and writes Blu-ray discs and has HD DVD playback capabilities. It records to Blu-ray Discs at 6x and has a 3x read speed for HD DVD discs.

Similar to the UbiSync technology that Samsung has, LG Electronics showcased their new L206WU LG Flatron LCD monitors daisy-chained to each other via a USB 2.0 connection. Called MultiLink, it allows for up to 6 LG Flatron LCD monitors or 8 notebooks to be connected this way.

Heavily compared with the Apple iPhone, the LG Voyager (VX10000) is the first handset from LG with an interactive touch screen and full QWERTY keyboard. Launched as a digital dual-band handset (1900/800) in the US in November 2001 for US$300, the Voyager sold 300,000 units in the first month alone. With a large 2.81" 400 x 240 pixel touch screen, it also comes with VibeTouch tactile feedback technology. It also supports V CAST Mobile TV, retractable TV antenna and dual speakers for stereo sound. It uses microSD card and has a 2.0 Megapixel auto-focusing camera. Question is, will it come to Singapore? Your guess is as good as ours.
