ASUS ROG GX700 Singapore launch - Meet the world's 1st liquid-cooled gaming notebook!

Late last week, ASUS officially launched the ROG GX700 liquid-cooled gaming notebook to much fanfare. Following that, ASUS held an exclusive hands-on session for HardwareZone members who registered their interest early. On hand were staff members from ASUS and NVIDIA to expound on the finer points of the one-of-a-kind ASUS ROG GX700 notebook.

The marquee feature of the gaming notebook was the liquid-cooling dock, and the inner workings of cooling system of the notebook.

The ROG Gaming Center lets users monitor their system, setup profiles for different game modes, and overclock their system.

ASUS also shared the exquisite software system that operated on the GX700 to ensure immersive gaming experiences; from its ROG Gaming center dashboard to the system’s integration with XSplit Gamecaster for easy recording and streaming of the user’s gameplay experience.

The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 GPU powers the ASUS ROG GX700 for its gaming requirements.

The attendees were reminded of the fact the GX700 is powered by a desktop-class NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 GPU. Before you baulk at this as an overkill, do recall at the announcement of NVIDIA GTX 980-powered notebooks last September, one of the unique selling points of these powerful gaming devices is their ability to deliver VR experience!

The ASUS ROG GX700 has an official launch price of S$6,108!

For all the bells and whistles it has, the GX700 comes with a hefty price tag that starts from S$6,198! Here's what you can expect the machine to boast:-

  • Intel Core i7-6820HK (2.7GHz, 8MB L3 cache) overclockable mobile processor
  • Desktop-class NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 GPU
  • Dual 256GB M.2 SSDs in RAID 0
  • 32GB of DDR4 RAM

The specifications of the notebook can go up to as high as 64GB of DDR4 system memory, and a pair of 512GB M.2 SSDs in RAID 0. Also, users with deeper pockets can opt for its Full HD 17.3-inch, NVIDIA G-Sync capable, IPS display to be upgraded to 4K resolution.

After the presentation, the attendees had the chance to get up close and personal with five demo ROG GX700 demo sets. There was a raffle draw that saw 10 attendees chosen for a special, closed-circle competition!

This inner circle of 10 will be loaned an ASUS ROG GX700 for a limited period. At the end of their exclusive preview with the gaming notebook, each of them have to put down their experiences in writing. The participant with the best entry will walk away with the ASUS G752 gaming notebook! This is a truly unique competition for the lucky ten!
