ASUS Gives HWZ Members Exclusive Hands-on Session with New Zenbooks

HardwareZone Members Go Hands-on with the ASUS Zenbook UX301 and UX302

The new ASUS Zenbook UX301 and UX302 have the same outward appearance and build. To educate users how they differ and what's new with the Zenbook line-up, ASUS and HardwareZone collaborated to enable users to see for themselves just how good the new Zenbooks are in this special hands-on session.

Remember the new Zenbooks we’ve covered back in October? The exquisitely designed ASUS Zenbook UX301 and UX302 have been in stores since late December 2013. With the holiday season in full swing, ASUS didn't get a chance to reach out and educate the public of what's exactly new with the latest Zenbook models. Moreover, both the Zenbook UX301 and the UX302 look pretty similar to the untrained eyes.

Participants were given an exclusive and intimate look at how well made the new notebooks are.

Thanks to the session, attendees were able to figure out which Zenbook model better suits their needs.

To help consumers make the right choice between an ASUS Zenbook UX301 and an ASUS Zenbook UX302, ASUS Singapore, in a partnership with Hardware Zone, organized a hands-on session to let HardwareZone forum members feel for themselves if the UX301 or UX302 is the notebook of their dreams.

So on the 25 January, ASUS and HardwareZone teamed up to provide a cozy session to our interested members and would-be upgraders to have a first-hand experience of latest updates to the Zenbook series, how the UX301 and UX302 differ, some practical hands-on 'tests' to win some interesting prizes and to share their experiences with the ASUS team. Who knows, they next Zenbook update in the future could factor in opinions from HardwareZone members who attended this event!

To get a more intimate experience with the Zenbook UX301 and UX302, ASUS had the hands-on session split to morning and afternoon groups. Here's a preview of one of the sessions:-

Lynn Goh, ASUS' marketing specialist giving attendees a brief on what they can expect from the session. Oh and the mysterious product was the ASUS Transformer Book Trio - a versatile, two-in-one notebook.

The session started off with Lynn Goh, ASUS’s marketing specialist giving participants a brief introduction on what the ASUS notebook team will be up to in the near future, as well as what the company has in store for them in the hands-on session.

ASUS' notebook product manager, Lu Hsin Ho, giving users an in-depth introduction of ASUS' new Zenbooks, the UX301, and UX302.

Next up, the limelight was passed over to Lu Hsin Ho, ASUS’ product manager for consumer notebooks, who proceeded to introduce the star products for the day, the ASUS Zenbook UX301 and ASUS Zenbook UX302.

In a nutshell, the Zenbook UX301 features a high-end 28W Core i7-4558U dual-core processor, WQHD (2,560 x 1,440) IPS display, Intel Iris Graphics 5100 and SSD storage, while the Zenbook UX302 comes stocked with discrete NVIDIA GeForce GT 730M graphics with Optimus technology, Full-HD display 750GB HDD and 16GB SSD of hybrid storage. Due to the components used on the UX302, it's a tad thicker, but it's also much more affordable than the sleeker Zenbook UX301. You can read more about them here and here.

The Zenbooks handled the resource intensive Adobe InDesign well thanks to the UX301's speedy SSD and the UX302's discrete graphics unit.

The Zenbooks' touch displays were also a big help when it came to getting the Chinese New Year greeting cards done.

To showcase the power and versatility of the Zenbooks, participants were tasked with creating a special Chinese New Year greeting card using a particularly resource-intensive Adobe InDesign software.

Attendees managed to come up with some pretty interesting designs thanks to the very capable Zenbooks.

Participants with the most interesting Chinese New Year greeting card designs were able to win some great prizes, courtesy of ASUS.

There was a bit of friendly competition between the participants as the best Chinese New Year greeting cards were awarded with special gifts prepared by ASUS. Further to that, there was also a small quiz session about the Zenbooks where participants were able to walk away with more goodies.

Of course, no one walks away empty handed. All participants were given goodie bags stuffed with accessories as a token of appreciation for taking time out to attend the event.

But of course, everyone was happy to hold the latest ASUS flagship Ultrabook, and to be given a chance to see just how much ASUS products have improved over the years.

The overall feedback from the session was that users were pleased that they could see for themselves just how much ASUS’ new products have improved compared to previous generations of Ultrabooks.

Attendees young and old were able to enjoy themselves at the event, while learning more about the products they love, so keep a lookout for more of these events on HardwareZone!
