The iPhone 4 comes to Singapore this Friday and I have been looking forward to getting my hands on one. I wanted the white one, because it looks so clean, chic and coole - and dare I even say sexy?
So imagine how disappointed I was to find out on Saturday morning that Apple has announced that shipment of the white iPhone 4 has been delayed. Again. However, this time it’s worse, as Apple hasn’t given a specific date for its launch. They only mentioned “later this year”.
No one really knows why the white iPhone 4 is delayed, although many believe that the delay is due in large part to Apple’s glass supplier, who, allegedly can’t get the “perfect combination of paint thickness and opacity” right. Depending on your mood when you're reading this, you could either find this explanation (a) highly plausible or (b) a lame excuse.
Therefore, I have much spent much time considering whether or not I should wait out for the white iPhone 4.Thing is, I don’t like it when Apple says that the white iPhone 4 will only be available “later this year”. I don’t like dealing with uncertainties, yet I’m fairly certain that in this case, “later this year” means Christmas. And I can’t imagine myself waiting that long, not with my iPhone 3G running like an asthmatic snail thanks (or rather no thanks) to iOS 4.
Furthermore, given that the white iPhone 4 is so problematic to manufacture, I’m worried it’ll be plagued by its own set of problems when it is finally released. I can deal with the wonky reception, but a wonky-looking off-white iPhone that looks as if it’s been stained by suspicious fluids is a bridge too far for me. I like to play it safe.
Besides, after comparing photos of the black and white iPhone 4, I’m beginning to dig the black one even more. Or rather, the white iPhone 4 is beginning look slightly odd in my eyes. Look at the photo above, the color screen on white background looks a tad odd, no? Or is this just my mind or my eyes playing tricks on me?
At this point, i think it's safe to say that my desire, lust, need, or whatever you want to call it, for the iPhone 4 is clouding my judgement. So what do you guys think, wait for the white or just get it in black?
