Intel 855 Chipset

On the chipset front, the Intel 855 chipset family has support for up to 2GB of DDR266/200 memory for higher performance and flexibility. And those yearning for USB 2.0 connectivities will be happy to know that the 855 is the first mobile chipset to support that natively as well. The chipset also has an AGP 4x interface to provide flexible support for high performance mobile graphics solution.

Another noteworthy capability is the Intel Stable Image Technology. This feature provides greater IT software image stability by enabling simple chipset hardware changes without triggering the "new hardware found" message, which in turn eliminates automatic and unnecessary re-qualifications. In the case of the 855GM (the integrated graphics chipset version of the 855 Chipset) for example, you need not re-install your graphics drivers as one driver fits all. It's a convenient solution for IT administrators who often need to re-install or upgrade systems for the company's staffs.
