Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX38

The FX38 is certainly no stranger to those of you who've followed Panasonic's range of stylish compacts. Since the advent of the FX33 and the introduction of the Intelligent Auto (iA) mode last July, the FX series has undergone a few transformations that make capturing those precious moments that much easier. On top of that, the FX38 also sports a new lens that's a slight improvement over its predecessor, the FX36 (FX35 for American and European markets). The number of megapixels is maintained at 10.1MP still, like the FX36. The lens now now sports a 5x zoom, and goes to a maximum of 125mm (in 35mm equivalent), up 20mm from the FX36. This could prove to be advantageous for those who would like that extra bit of reach when you're on holiday.

iA now includes a new function: AF Tracking. With this new function, you can now "lock" the focus onto a moving subject, and iA will keep your subject in focus as it moves, all without requiring you to depress the shutter release halfway. In addition, the FX38 now includes two additional scene modes, bringing the total now to 25. The new Pin Hole and Film Grain modes give you that additional opportunity to explore and push the boundaries of your creativity. The ability to shoot 720p videos makes it friendly for those who would like to dabble in some form of HD filmmaking.
