SingTel's prepaid subscribers, take note. The direct carrier billing for Google Play purchases is not available for prepaid accounts at the moment. A SingTel spokesperson informed us that the service is only available to postpaid subscribers for now.

We knew about this matter when one of our readers sent in an email to inform us. According to the reader, SingTel staff told him that the service is discontinued (for prepaid account) until further notice. There was "no further explanation offered".

SingTel announced on 12 August that it is the first telco in South East Asia to offer direct carrier billing for Google Play purchases. At time of publication, the Frequently Asked Questions column on its Everything Android webpage still states that the service is provided for both postpaid and prepaid subscribers.
