Rumor: Google Android 5.0 Delayed

Google's annual and highly-anticipated event, I/O is just around the corner and many Android fans are expecting exciting announcements. However, we hate to be the bearer of bad news but according to reports and sources, Google might just delay the next-generation Android operating system.

According to the same sources, Google is considering delaying Key Lime Pie by as much as 2–4 months. Apparently, the delay is intentional as Google wants to give OEMs some breathing room as they are trying to update their catalog of phones to the current Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

Is an updated Nexus 4 coming our way, sources say very likely. <br>Image source: Google

It isn't all bad news though as Google might just announce a new Nexus phone at the event but with that being said, it is not the rumored Motorola X Phone (or Nexus X). Reports claimed that Google is preparing an updated Nexus 4 with minimal changes, but the new key features will include:

  • 32GB of internal storage
  • Updated body design
  • LTE radio support

With the announcement of this new 32GB variant of the Nexus 4, it's quite likely that the 8GB version will be phased out.

Speaking of the Motorola X Phone/Nexus X, rumor has it that Motorola might have an entire lineup of X phones instead of just one as per tradition. We can't really lay a finger on this news just yet, but many speculate that the Nexus X will be released in a few months time.
