New Sign-in Experience for Microsoft Services Coming End 2013

A new sign-in UX is coming to Microsoft services, and it's driven by Windows Azure AD. (Image source: Microsoft.)

As detailed in a Windows Azure blog post, the Windows Azure Active Directory team will be launching a new sign-in experience across Office 365, Windows Azure, and other of the company’s services used by organizations by the end of this year.

The redesigned sign-in sports several major improvements over the current implementation. For one, it’ll adopt a responsive design so that it looks good and performs consistently regardless of device or platform you use. And since this is after all a sign-in page, a quick sign-in contributes a lot to the user experience. As such, extra content such as illustrations get a lower priority during downloading. If you’re using a smartphone, a large illustration may not even be downloaded at all. Other improvements include simplified subsequent sign-ins and enhanced federation support.

Users can now test the new UX by opting in here.
