Foxconn has stepped up hiring of assembly-line workers in China after a post-holiday freeze, this is the clearest sign yet that a new iPhone is coming. According to Foxconn, the company has added about 10,000 workers a week at its production facility in Zhengzhou since the last week of March. Zhengzhou is one of Foxconn's key facility for producing iPhones.

Although Foxconn would not officially elaborate on the reason for the step up in hiring, sources from within say they are doing so to prepare for the next iPhone. A Foxconn executive at Zhengzhou said this:

"We have been very busy recently as we will start mass-producing the new iPhone soon."

Industry experts say Apple will begin production of the new iPhone in the second quarter of the year, and it is possible that they will also produce a more affordable model will accompany the new iPhone to combat cheaper alternatives from its rivals.
