Call of Duty: Ghosts Will Run at 720p on Xbox One, 1080p on PlayStation 4

We know that the Xbox One is, on paper at least, less powerful than the PlayStation 4, but what we did not know if it will translate to their practical difference or if it will have any affect on graphics settings and quality of games. However, if Call of Duty: Ghosts is to be any indication, then, Xbox fans brace yourselves.

Reports have confirmed that Call of Duty: Ghosts will run at 1080p on the Xbox One, but that is actually upscaled from 720p. On the other hand, the PlayStation 4 will have enough grunt to run the game at 1080p natively. This is to ensure that the game will fun at a smooth 60 fps on both consoles.

This has been confirmed by Mark Rubin, producer of the game, who said the following on Twitter.

Hey, been on the road last couple weeks so haven't had a chance to update, but wanted to confirm that for Xbox One we're 1080p upscaled from 720p. And, we're native 1080p on PS4. We optimized each console to hit 60 FPS and the game looks great on both. Still on the road, but glad to see the great reception to Extinction. Can't wait for next week's launch.

However, it remains to be seen if there is any practical and appreciable difference in actual visual quality. Still, we bet it is disheartening for Xbox fans to hear this, for it is effective an outright admission that the Xbox One cannot compete against the Playstation 4 when it comes to sheer graphics horsepower.
